The galaxy was on the verge of all-out war. The string of kidnappings in recent days has each of the three great powers pointing fingers at one another and the most aggressive of them call for retribution. However, other voices have called for calm, for cooperation. It is they who brought your group together and gave you a simple task: find the missing and return them to their people.
<p>
It was far easier said than done.
<p>
Whomever the culprit was had been excruciatingly thorough in covering their tracks. Dozens of false rumors and dead-end leads have delayed the team’s investigation on multiple occasions. Mysterious killings removed many possible witnesses. It may not have been possible at all had it not been for a sudden stroke of luck that saw a man dead on Makeb after an attempt to steal a child from one of its many luxury resorts. While the dead man had obviously been less than talkative his ship’s navigation core still retained its logs, and made it clear that he’d at least had a hand in the disappearances. More importantly, it contained information on a planet the ship seemed to be traveling to repeatedly: Vrogas Vas.
<p>
After arriving on the world's surface, it becomes abundantly clear your team has found the den of these kidnappers and there are far, far more of them than originally anticipated. Their sprawling camp surrounds the foreboding ruins of a once great temple. Dozens of sentients of every species common throughout civilized space kneel in reverence before temple, though there doesn’t appear to be any activity in the camp itself. Still, a frontal assault seems to be the less desirable option.
<p>
Perhaps a more creative approach will be required.

Suffocating darkness is all that you know for a few horrifying moments as your awareness struggles to the surface. It’s a feeling akin to what one would imagine a drowning man would have—a desperate need to simply indulge in the most basic of life functions. Fortunately, the feeling eventually passes and the numbness begins to fade. The leaden weights are lifted from your limbs and movement becomes possible once more.
<p>
And with it comes the realization that you are not where you are supposed to be. Whether you lived in the highest tower or the lowest hut, you find yourself in laying upon the cold stone floor of a dark room. The gloom is banished by a line of torches flaring to sudden life before you are even able to comprehend the situation. Somehow, you’ve ended up in a rudimentary prison cell. The bars locking you inside appear sturdy and any attempts to free yourself prove as much. Whoever has stolen you away clearly doesn’t want you leaving for the moment and based upon the noise echoing through the halls there are other prisoners as well.
<p>
Then, you hear a voice, faint and ephemeral as though shouted from a great distance. “Come, oh child of mine. Come and claim your birthright.” A feeling of belonging and purpose fills you. It feels as though you belong here. It feels like something is calling to you, begging to be heeded.
<p>
Then, the prison cell swings open of its own accord, creaking on rusted hinges.
<p>
Something calls to you. Something that’s been near yet far for all your life. Something . . . that wants to be found.

You arrive in Theed’s space port just as the sun reaches its midday zenith. The keen of starship engines pervades the air as captains and their crew leave port or arrive from another of the Coalition’s territories. Once inside, the engine whines are replaced almost in their entirety with the bustle of crowds. Here a family is reunited with a long lost relative and there a group of Templars march towards transports in their regalia. It’s an organized sort of chaos, but the atmosphere is a generally peaceful one.

One lone figure stand near the exit of your dock with an expectant look on his face. The man is dress in fine cloths befitting a noble or a favored servant and the lines creasing his face tell a tale of experience. He searches the faces of those disembarking with you until his gaze finally settles and he moves to intercept.

“Squire Ise Saro, I presume?” the man asks.

@Ise Saro
